Story

A little DECO. A little DISCO

Catherine Jhung spent years designing Fine jewelry as Senior Designer at IPPOLITA, and as Director of Fine Jewelry at ALEXIS BITTAR. In her previous life before that, she worked as a set designer for many years. She received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, and a BFA in Textiles, from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Catherine was born in Korea, raised in the Philippines and India, naturalized in America, and is now a proud New Yorker. Jhung Jewelry is expressed by indigenous materials from the Philippines,- Freshwater Pearls and hand-carved Mother-of-Pearl. These are pieces borne out of the South China Sea, hand made in her studio under the Brooklyn Bridge, in the original New Amsterdam by the East RIver. Architect Oscar Niemeyer put it best: what matters is not Architecture, but life, friends, and the attempt to make this unjust world a better place.
